[OOC: Exercise to gain endurance. 1/2] The heat of summer was a choking blanket that wrapped around her and seemed to slide down her throat. It wasn't often that the ebony queen had to strike out from the Cove to find some relief.. but today? Today was one of those days. The lioness had left her home turf and started heading north. She stretched her legs, taking the chance to really get a good run in as she started to get away from the heat of the ocean sands. The farther north she got, the cooler it got, and part of Jewel wondered if she could just temporarily relocate the pride to the edges of the northern territories.. Just in the warmest months. Like some of the migratory critters. Ocean by spring, fall and winter.. and northern reaches in the summer. She was currently moving across the land, letting her claws bite into the turf beneath her to propel her forward. The twin tail let the burning in her lungs tell her when she had to push and when she had to back down. Even as she ran, she was on the lookout for potential food - something to eat.. because by gods had she begun to work up an appetite. |

Winter
The land seems still, having finally settled into the depths of winter and all that comes with it. Snowfall remains persistent across the north and mountain peaks, the oceans often choppy with the harsh, strong winds that the season brings. Comfort can be found in the lull of the early morning, however, when the sun feels almost warm again and the world is calm.

+5 study and track footprints
The cool of this corner of the land had attracted Sirive like a moth to a flame, appreciating every second she could spend apart from the sun's scorching touch. Sirive had been stalking after some footprints which she suspected belonged to a young gazelle and a mother, but she was not quite sure. The goal was to track them down and determine once and for all exactly what she had been following after.
She was so focused on keeping track of the imprints in the ground that it was only the sound of paws beating against earth that alerted her to the presence of another lioness. She pricked her ears forward and let out an instinctual chuff to announce her own presence, silver gaze shining with interest at the sight of her.

[OOC: Exercise 2/2] She would keep running, feeling not only the burning of her lungs, but the burn of her limbs as well. Jewel heard the sounds from @Sirive and paused just enough to note the direction where she came from before she slowed to a halt, and then started to jog towards the other female, working to get her breath under control. "What brings you out this way?" Was there a pride out here she wasn't familiar with? It wouldn't surprise her, not really. The lands were quite large, and Jewel genuinely was curious. Her tails twitched near her haunches as she watched the lioness, her skull tilting towards her. "I'm Jewel Khulani....A pleasure to meet you." |

+5 lead a hunt
The other lioness seemed to notice her, changing her course and her pace as it appeared she would try and approach Sirive. She quickly gazed back down to the earth, trying to memorize the sight of the tracks she had been following and what direction she thought they would continue on, in case she wanted to follow after them again later. It would be unwise to turn down the chance of a meal during the hot months, after all.
Once she was satisfied in her analysis of the tracks, Sirive lifted her head up to face the lioness as she approached. Her pelt was darker than any other she had seen, and the closer she got, the more clearly she could make out that this lioness had two tails. Puzzlement evident in her expression, she nodded her head in greeting.
"I was trying to follow some prey--you?" She answered honestly, despite the possibility that this stranger would try and take the kill out from under her. "I'm Sirive Gambetta," she introduced in turn.
"What are the odds we manage to take down something together and split it evenly?" Sirive asked her, managing to get straight to business. "I was following some tracks, but I smell something else nearby." To hunt with someone outside of her pride was not something she would recommend, but she did not see that she had many other options or even much to lose.
Glancing at Jewel to try and assess her answer, she pivoted slightly and began to stalk forward with each of her predator's senses peeled.

The lioness would grin at the introduction of the other, tilting her skull and giving @Sirive an amused grin. When the other spoke of hunting, she would turn her attention towards the direction the other went with a thoughtful humming nod. "I wouldn't mind helping.. And if it's not a lot - you're welcome to it, friend.. I have plenty at home." The lioness chuckled, not wanting to take food from the mouth of the other.. She didn't smell of a pride, after all. "I needed to get away from the heat of the beach for a little while. I was starting to melt - or at least I was pretty sure I was going to melt." Jewel chuckled, falling into step behind the other female, staying off and to her left - letting her take the lead and bring them to whatever it might be they were trying to find. |

The pair crept forward, following after the trail of a large giraffe. While it might have been ambitious, Sirive had confidence in their abilities--especially since there was more than one lioness on the prowl. She made subtle gestures toward her companion to try and communicate exactly where they needed to move: which angle to come at, and the proper moment to strike.
Her execution skilled, it appeared that the giraffe was also no stranger to their game. For each strike made, the large creature was able to fend them off--kicking and stomping its way out of their clutches.
"Damn," Sirive breathed through her labored panting as it escaped. Her muscles burned from the effort and her mouth felt cottony from the lack of food and water. "Should we keep looking or accept failure?" She questioned as she threw her gaze back over her shoulder at Jewel, wondering if she would be willing to go to all of the effort of it after their initial loss.
She stalked forward, using her predatory senses to try and pick up any trace of prey she could lead them toward.

She fell into place behind the other female, trailing the giraffe, and wondering exactly how the two of them were going to manage to take it down. Jewel was able to duck, weave and otherwise dodge the flailing hooves of the Giraffe before she let a soft growl of frustration out of her lips. When @Sirive spoke of continuing, Jewel would give her a considering look before she gave the female a tilt of her skull. "If you want to - we can give it another shot.. Perhaps a bit less ambitious than a giraffe." Jewel chuckled between breathless pants, trying to catch her breath before she was willing to throw herself into another hunt. Her tails flickering near her haunches as she tried to stabilize her own legs - that had been one hell of a ride. The female watched their initial quarry prance off into the distance. |
