March 19, 2024 A momentary lull has overtaken the lands of Amaryllis as its inhabitants attempt to find their footing and rebuild after a string of challenges. How long it will last, however, nobody can be quite sure.

February 11, 2024 The Mire has fallen from the Stärke family and is now held by Luther Rike. The change has stirred but the fighting nature of those on the island. The Brook finds a new leader with Icefang and Isla takes over the Lagoon after a storm pushes out the old leader. Reti finds himself the leader of the Hollows after Alexander is hurt. The Oasis finds a new leader in Léonie who is soon tested by Harou.

January 8, 2024 The snow has finally begun to melt anew, which means that the world is slowly returning to the much-anticipated summer season. With the various holiday activities and the other jests put on by Nafasi also coming to a close, it is safe to say that winter is finally over.

December 5th, 2023 Nafasi had pulled a cruel trick and has sent Amaryllis back into a renewed winter season! But it's not all bad, because the lands will also see a handful of holiday-themed events popping up as a result. To make things more interesting, a wayward trio of travlers have also arrived and are facilitating a mass competition between the prides, bands, and rogues -- formally dubbed the Amaryllis Winter Games.

December 2nd, 2023 The spring air brings forth a number of pride challenges. A familiar challenger for the Cove and the Oasis arrive to try to earn what they want. The new leader of the Lagoon is tested in battle as well. What changes will come from the challenges? Who will remain standing and who will find their world turned upside down?

November 27th, 2023 In a challenge between mother and daughter, the leadership of Wolfbron Bluff changes for the first time in 5 IC years.

November 22nd, 2023 Two death matches, one resurrection, and an almost-war later, the lands find themselves in a constant state of turmoil and calamity. Families have been torn apart and endless blood has been spilt; but how is it all going to end?

November 3rd, 2023 The lands stir violently as a death match rages on between Aeistrios Saxe and Morrigan Greyflood. Observers spill into the pit in droves to witness what will no doubt be a historic battle -- and it is clear that this familial fued is far from over, no matter who wins and who dies.

October 12th, 2023 With winter comes the surge of more pride challenges; Ludivine challenges Ryker for Firnen Rainforest and is victorious in her endeavors, meanwhile an outcropping of maims breaks out on the sidelines. In a shocking turn of events Luther returns to challenge Bruno for Ecrosia Mire, will the former heir prove victorious or has Bruno got what it takes to keep his brother's ambitions at bay? This has undoubtedly shaken things up as Bruno declares war against Andal Oasis and Allies in the process!

September 26th, 2023 A series of pride challenges spark up across the peninsula, while warring families face-off as tensions reach their boiling points. Anthonius Savante barely manages to escape the clutches of Apollinaire Dieudonne with his life, while death looms over the broken truce between the Valour-Greyflood and Saxe families.

September 4th, 2023 After Tinúviel collapsed at the Wolfbron Bluff's challenge, she was unable to make it back to the Lagoon to take up her leadership position again and the pride disbands. Diomedeidae & Cirilla fight for the pride.

August 28th, 2023 Both Amara and Morrigan keep their prides. Lachesis doesn't show to defend the Brook and Renfri takes over. The Wolfbron Bluffs challenge seems to be setting off fireworks already.

August 15th, 2023 The two longest standing female leaders are both fighting for their prides once again. Anthonius challenges Amara for the Bluffs. Amaroq challenges Morrigan for the Summit. A new leader faces his first challenge as Renfri challenges Lachesis for the Brook. Did anyone think that peace was something the island was able to have?

August 1st, 2023 Conflict, drama, love, and loss - the lands are never free from any of it for more than a fleeting moment. As the summer months wane on and the season nears its end, there is no telling what is coming next upon the horizon.

June 19th, 2023 With the rains leaving and spring upon the island, things are heating up among the lions. Bruno seeks to unseat his father in the Mire. Helah looks to dethrone Scorpius in the Oasis and keep the fire between the Bluffs and the Oasis alive. The Plains have raided the Brook and allies on both sides showed up to help.

May 23rd, 2023 All is fair in love and war - moments of chaos and peace lull in a cyclical nature across the lands of Amaryllis, though most are wise enough to know that the quiet never lasts quite long enough.

April 20th, 2023 Alexander manages to win the Hollows and Tiamat keeps the Lagoon. Vághan challenges Amara for the Bluffs but Amara is able to hold off another challenger and keeps the Bluffs. The Cove was hit by a storm that washed away it's leader leaving the lands open to be claimed by Nephthys and Keligan who both are attached to the land. Cirilla attempts to take the Oasis from Scorpius who seems driven to keep the land.

April 5th, 2023 It doesn't take long for the dust to kick up as the Hollows is challenged for by Alexander once again and the Lagoon is challenged for by Fernweh.

March 31st, 2023 As wars and challenges continue to break out across the lands, Amaryllis is certainly keeping up with its turbulent reputation. One can only hope that the dust will settle soon enough - for everyone's sake.

March 10th, 2023 The turbulance of the prides never ceases for very long, as a violent landslide forces the members of Firnen Rainforest to evacuate and disband. Who will step up for the throne this time around?

March 1st, 2023 While Gauthier manages to retain control of Caladan Cove, Lorien Plains' fate is not so simple. With Aeistrios overthrowing Violarum and taking the pride's throne, how will things unravel from here?

The coldest part of winter is now afoot, with heavy snowfall spreading across the north and crisp winds overtaking the majority of the lands. To make matters worse, the days seem painfully short, with the sun setting as quickly as it seems to rise from across the horizon. The nights remain dark, quiet, and frigid all the while.

There is little reason for the brute to have made his way this far west, and yet, here he is. Finding himself restless to the point of exhaustion and yet, he cannot stop moving. Searching for yet another thing to keep his mind from delving into depths that even he, monster that he is, does not want to explore. Its hard when the dark that had always been friend now grew teeth and claws and hungry things. Waiting, wanting to drag him into the hell of his loss.

The sun has yet to return, but, the dim glow of predawn glimmers in the night. A promise of what is to come. His form is slow moving, each step mindless, head low from exhaustion, and yet he is not... unaware. He would react with deceptive quickness if disturbed, probably.

Probably because its become painfully clear his mate had disappeared into the ether and his heart had been torn from his breast. Left broken and bleeding on the ground. He's not sure he has the strength to put it back, to patch the shriveled, dark thing up and try more than the bare minimum. Holding on for his children's sake, his pride's sake, but only barely. He craves the companionship of others, craves the partnership he had with the silver woman. Craves the feeling of her, both in lust and in love, and it fades with each day he is without her. Sure, perhaps he had lovers in the wings, but, its not the same.

Some days he wondered if he should just walk, leave his pride and children behind. Descend into his misery until his is but a wraithe, a shadow of himself. Nothing to his name or self but a hollow all consuming emptiness that threatens to swallow him even now. And yet, he paces through the sands, moving slowly, step by step.

A burning place, this was. The sun beat down upon the sands, baking them and everything that tried to eke out an existence upon them. Night was the time for travel here, unless one wished to join the bleached bones that she occasionally spotted half-buried in the sand. It reminded her of the badlands, an equally-inhospitable place, and one that she had only ventured through once, in pursuit of dying wildebeest and the first full meal she had had in ages. She wasn't hunting this time, however, at least not for animals. According to something her mother had once told her, certain herbs grew around desert oases that were effective at purging illnesses from the body. She wasn't sick, but she had wanted to see if this story was true, alas, finding an oasis had proven more difficult than she expected, or at least, one that wasn't covered by pride-lion smells.

What she found instead, as she crested a red dune dyed pale in the moonlight, was a large, dark shape making its plodding way across the sands. She paused midstep, momentarily startled until the scent reached her, and she realized she had met this lion before. The question was, did she want to meet him again?...Yes, she eventually decided. Gwyn had been an arse, but he hadn't given her a reason to actively avoid him, unlike his cousin. Besides, something seemed...wrong, about him. There was a heaviness to his steps that wasn't there last time. Was he sick? If so, then she owed it to him to offer aid regardless of how she felt about him personally.

"You look like you've seen better days," was how she chose to greet him as she made her careful way down the dune's side. It was either that, or 'you look like shit' and as much as he irked her, he looked so pitiful at the moment that she couldn't truly bring herself to bully him right off the bat.

Some part of him was aware of her presence when she spotted him. It didn't cause him to react in any way, just informed him that she was there. Only when she speaks does he look up, slow steps coming to a halt. Drawing himself up, placing a mantle of half hearted arrogance and pride upon his shoulders. A weak shadow of what it had been at the beach, but, putting on enough of a show that hopefully she wouldn't pity him. Wouldn't feel sorry for him in any way that did not result in the angle he had been gunning for some time ago. A mercy fuck would be fine, but, any other show of mercy would feel like a slap in the face. As screwed up as it was, well there it was.

His coping mechanisms are decidedly unhealthy, but, though he knows this, its all he has. His jaws unhinge, as if to speak, before closing soundlessly. Offering a shrug in response instead. Yeah, he did, and sure as hell felt like it, but he can't be bothered dropping his woes upon her.

Truth be told, that might be the hardest part of all this. His daughters could only take on so much of the emotional burden; he was their father. And while he trusted them, there are some things he must protect them from. As was his duty and role as their dad, and also because he damn well cared. They probably could not understand his struggles as intimately as he needed to express them. Nor did his friends or lovers really have that closeness he needed either. Jewel perhaps, but, she had enough on her plate, and he did not trust her to perhaps act on his behalf. Not truly when both loved the same woman. She would pick Pistis over him every time so that outlet was out. His lovers? Well, celaine would not challenge him as he needed, Tenley had always had an independent streak that mean he hardly saw her... and well that was it. He was really quite alone without his mate at his side.

And since @Kalahari had denied him those months ago, he doubted she would be interested in giving him the release he craved. Let alone carry his emotional baggage without weaponizing it against him. So he was stuck, isolated on his island of misery, attempting to pick himself up, but only barely managing. Just enough to run his pride and be there for his children... but only just.

You would have thought his skull weighed a thousand pounds, if the way he struggled to raise it was any indication. He made a halfhearted attempt to puff himself up, but it was plain to anyone that it was an act, and an unconvincing one at that. It was the look in his eyes, perhaps, that gave her the greatest pause. They had gone dull, making her fear for a moment that he really was ill, but if that was the case then she should have been able to smell it on him. For an explanation, he offered nothing but a wordless shrug, causing her to tilt her head to the side in puzzlement. He had been so suave before, perhaps not charming, but he had certainly had more energy in him than...this.

Kalahari didn't like him. At the very least, she didn't like the façade that lions like him put on. That arrogant swagger had never appealed to her, for too often she had seen it used to conceal the true ugliness that lay underneath. She didn't really know him, not as he truly was, and she almost left it at that. The only thing that kept her from walking away was how miserable he seemed to be, how exhausted, and despite knowing better, Kalahari was concerned.

"Are you going to speak...?" she asked finally, raising a brow. "Or would you rather perform some sort of interpretive dance and make me figure it out that way?"

He was tired. Oh so tired, and while he attempted to bring his normal swagger it was clear to him and the woman it was a futile attempt. Weakness or the sheer fact he was mortal was not something he liked to show... but at the moment such things were beyond him. Gwyn was heartbroken and had, in part, gone on this fruitless journey to collapse, to shatter a little in private. Where none could see and worry about him. Where none would give a flying fuck, and he wouldn't have to put on a mask and a show. However, Kalahari was here, and he had to make at least a half hearted attempt at it.

She saw right through it. Offered some concern in the snark that seemed to be her trademark, but, she seemed to care a little. Brute blinked at her, mildly surprised, but did not speak for long moments. "I doubt the world would keep spinning in the presence of such a dance from me." he states, dead voiced, but trying for some sort of humor. It fell flat. "Did you stop to verbally kick me while I am down? Or some other ulterior motive?" he asks after a moment, exhausted. He wants to know so he knows whether or not to linger or simply... just ignore her and keep moving. Let her screech her venom to the wind to fall on death, uncaring ears. Not that she would say anything that he hadn't already told himself at this point. If she thought him cruel and callous to others, it was nothing compared to the standards he held himself to and the berating he gave himself when he failed.

Even his banter was half-hearted. Whatever had happened, it had made Gwyn into a shell of his former self. When he asked after her own motives for being out on the dunes in the early predawn, she gave a shrug as well. "I didn't expect to find another lion out here, least of all you. I was going to stay clear, but you looked so miserable I couldn't walk away in good conscience--I do have a creed to uphold." The healers of her family took their oaths seriously.

"And yet, she observed, "it doesn't seem to be injury or illness that's left you in such a sorry state." Sorrow, self-loathing, it practically rolled off him. Wounds of the soul were not so simple to treat as those of the flesh, but they couldn't simply be ignored, either. "If you wish to be left alone to stew in whatever woes are plaguing you, then I won't stay where I'm not wanted. But if you think it might help, even a little, to tell someone else your troubles, well..." She sat down, curling her tail about her paws. For once, the softness in her eyes was genuine. "I don't have anywhere particularly important to be."

He blinks at her, the motion slow, but it still somehow conveys some surprise. A creed? Perhaps she was a healer... Wasn't that ironic? Why was it those drawn to him were often healers as well as some sort of warrior? Whether in spirit or body he had a habit of attracting women who could hold their own. Now the question was could he find the energy to offer some sort of battle or truth to her. Or if he could even bring himself to be vulnerable before a stranger in the way he needed and she was trying to get him to be.

He is further surprised as she sits down, offers him the aid he so desperately needs. For long moments he simply stares, reading the message in her body. Debating if he could trust her or if he would try and drag himself from the depths enough to simply use her physically. No.. he could not get into her pants when he was well, he doubted she would let him now. Particularly when it would be clear that he was using it as a distraction instead of actually dealing with what troubled him. Eventually he sits down and continues to watch.

It's a long while before he finally speaks. Tone quiet, level, seemingly calm but from the tension in his frame one can tell he is barely holding on. "My wife disappeared." He states. Simple words but in many ways it tells her everything and nothing at all. Pistis was more important than he cared to admit to any but the pale lady herself and perhaps this woman who took the time to give a damn about the gargoyle king.

Not many could be bothered peeling back the layers of prickly armor and venom to find the the soul beneath. One that was surprisingly gentle, caring, loving and fragile. One that shattered and shriveled with each moment of wondering where she was. @Kalahari best see this moment for what it was; a rare glimpse into the vulnerable heart of the demon.

At first, he said nothing, but in his eyes she could see the turbulent processes of his mind. When one was hurting, it was natural to seek solace, but it was also equally as natural to try and build up one's defenses even higher. She didn't like to make broad generalizations, but it seemed to be especially difficult for the males of their species to let their troubles be visible to others, particularly for males like Gwyn, who wore their masks of bravado so close to their skin. Kala didn't try to push him in either direction, instead letting him make the decision for himself to open up to her. When he lowered himself to sit as well, she knew he had made his choice, though it took him a few moments longer to finally speak.

As soon as he did, she understood.

The tawny nomad's expression grew somber. He had mentioned his mate and cubs before, and despite their mutual polygamy clearly he would not be in such a state as this if there hadn't been true, genuine love between them as well. "I'm...sorry." There was no hint of sarcasm in her voice now--she meant it. Not just because she also knew what it was like for a loved one to be missing, even if hers was familial rather than romantic. But even with her prickliness towards him, Kalahari was not without empathy. She didn't enjoy seeing others in grief. "Do you have any idea where she went?" She didn't doubt for a moment that he would have already scoured Amaryllis for her, but 'disappeared' could mean lots of things.

It's so rare for him to be vulnerable, something that he had been learning to share with Pistis herself. Something that he wasn't able to express to even her until recently and yet. Her loss has left him unhinged, shields scattered and fallen haphazardly around him. He picks them up out of habit but with his defenses shot as they were, he could not bare to pick them up and hold them when someone genuinely reached out. He was tired and his burden too great. @Kalahari was just lucky enough or perhaps unlucky enough to be she who he dumped his woes on. It depended on her view of him he supposed. He couldn't bring himself to care enough either way.

Well in this moment. He would likely deny this happened in public. He had a reputation to attempt to upkeep. As shattered as it probably was right now.

I'm sorry. Simple words without blame or accusation. Without someone judging him silently as he knew Jewel had. He was afraid to admit how much such a basic gesture meant so he stayed silent. Spoke only at her next question, shaking his skull as he did. "I looked everywhere." He states, burning gaze holding a strange emotion in them. It's hard to tell what it is at first glance but it would resolve itself suddenly. He was haunted by his inability to find her. "She wouldn't... Just leave. Our children, our pride, they are too important to her." He continues tone quiet, broken. There is a pointed lack of him in the things she valued but something said that prying there was not the way to go. He had already beaten himself up about it enough thank you; his mistakes in regard to her a burden he would shoulder himself. A reminder not to stumble in that way again if he was lucky enough to fall a third time. If he could bring himself to fall a third time. He wasn't sure he could put himself together enough to allow someone close enough to shatter him again.

His eyes were looking right through her as he raised his head again, as if he was seeing ghosts. Those weren't the eyes of someone just trying to ply her with a sad story, everything he said now was truthful, and the mere fact that he was willing to appear this way in front of someone who was essentially a stranger to him was greatly concerning. Men like him didn't do that unless they had no more fight left in them.

He insisted that she wouldn't have just up and left on her own, and she believed him. Speculating on her fate or whereabouts didn't seem like the right thing to do at the moment, though. They played at civilization, but underneath it all, they were beasts, living in a world of beasts. Being at the top of the food chain did not always guarantee them safety.

"Tell me about her," she said instead, after a pause. "She must be an extraordinary woman if she was able to capture your heart so." Kalahari made a point of referring to her in the present-tense. She wasn't sure how long Gwyn's mysterious partner had been gone, but as she had come to learn herself, someone thought lost could still reappear, even after it seemed hopeless.
