Fa la la la la, la la la la! It's finally December, and we all know what that means — holiday events, woohoo! This year, we have a variety of things planned, both OOC and IC, so please make sure to read over this thread thoroughly and get involved in anything and everything that interests you!
We are once again implementing a site-wide holiday/downtime period.
Our break period will run from December 22 to January 5.
During this time, a few things will happen:
- All leadership requirements will be paused.
- Prior to December 22, all pride leaders will need to have their required post counts completed (for the last 7 days), and will need to have their pride histories/pages/news up-to-date as well.
- All leaders will have until January 9 to get their leadership requirements back up to speed. Failure to do so by this date will result in possible strikes/disbandment.
- Any ongoing pride cooldowns will be paused during the break and the dates for them will be adjusted based on the cooldown starting back up on January 5th.
- Pride challenges and the creation of outlaw bands will not be permitted from the start of the event, until January 11. This gives everyone time to catch up and settle.
- The majority of the maintenance work will be voluntary for Staff members.
- Auditions and pride updates will be prioritized to keep things flowing and to prevent limbo; other maintenance items can be done by Staff if they choose, but they will also be on break.
- This means that there is a chance that petals, trade exp, and other requests might sit for a little longer than you’re used to — please do not poke Staff about these items between December 22 and January 2. They will be completed either when a Staff member is free and able, or after the break.
- Ongoing fight timers will be paused. Members can choose to continue their fights during the break or pick them back up on January 5.
- The bot will be paused during this time.
- Do not poke other members for replies, posts, etc. This takes away from the break!
We hope that this allows the member base to enjoy the holiday season and unplug for a little while, if needed. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to an Admin.
Of course, as always, we will be doing a 12 days of Christmas Advent Calendar, which will be starting on December 13.
It will work the same as it has in the past:
- Gifts will be announced once a day for 12 days in a row, both in Discord and in a separate Advent Calendar thread.
- You must sign-up to receive any gifts. Sign-ups will open on December 10, and you’ll be able to sign up in Discord or on-site (no need to sign up in both places). We will let everyone know when sign-ups are open!
- To sign-up, you must have at least one active character on-site (so make sure to audition a character now, if you haven’t already)
- Sign-ups will work as a one-time entry, where you sign-up once and are good to go for the remaining days. If you sign up on Day 1, you get prizes from Day 1-12. If you sign up on Day 5, you get prizes from Day 5-12.
A separate thread will be made to track sign-ups and prize announcements — this will go live on December 9, so we’ll see you then!
This year, we will be facilitating IC winter games! Think of it like lion olympics —every pride and band will count as their own team, and rogues will also be considered their own team so that they can participate. The goal is also very simple: amass the most amount of points by the end of the event to win!
This event will run until 11:59pm on January 10th, EST.
There will be 12 competitions, one designated for each trade, that competitors can post in. These competitions will all be initiated and posted ICly on December 5th.
- Only characters intending to participate in the competition and be matched-up may post here. No observers.
- Your character must be at least 1 year old to participate.
- You can post 1 character PER pride to participate, per thread.
- If you have 2 lions in Caladan Cove that want to participate in the Ranger Competition, you can only post 1. If you have 1 lion in Caladan Cove and 1 lion in Firnen Rainforest that want to participate, you can post them both.
- IC sign-ups will remain open until Dec 12th. You must post to the threads before then to participate in the competition.
- On Dec 13, every posted character will be paired up with another for the competition via the use of an NPC. After the pairs have been announced, everyone must post again in response to their match-up and insert [*roll=1d10] (without the asterisk) at the bottom of their post.
- The character in each pair that rolls the highest number will be considered to have won their match-up. Winners will then be matched up again, and the cycle will continue every week.
- Each round will last 1 week. Anyone who does not post by the end of the week will be defaulted out of the next match-up.
- In the case of uneven numbers, Staff will use an NPC to balance things out.
- In the case of a tie in a match-up, Staff will roll a tie-breaker.
There will also be 3 special cub (under 1 year old) competitions posted, so that they can participate as well. These competitions will all be initiated and posted ICly on December 5th, and follow all the same the guidelines as above.
All of the competition threads will be linked in a reply to this announcement once they are live.
Now how do you earn points, you ask? Well, let me tell you:
- +1 - Participate in one of our weekly holiday prompts (claimable once per thread, per character)
- +1 - Participate in a posted trade competition (claimable once per thread, per character)
- +1 - Do a hit of damage to Lou, the Christmas Donkey (once per hit)
- +1 - Win a match-up in a posted trade competition (claimable for each match-up that’s won)
- +3 - Be one of the last ones standing in a posted trade competition (win the final match-up, results posted on Jan 10)
You can request earned points for your team via the “Amaryllis Winter Games Tally” channel in our Discord server, or by DMing @Squid, using the following form:

Team:
# of Points and For What:
Link:
NOTE: Exits are not needed in order to claim points.
And, of course, what does your team win if they end the event with the most amount of points?
- Premium “Winner of the Amaryllis Winter Games” IC award
- 3 week pride challenge cooldown (January 11-February 1)
- In the case of a rogue or outlaw band win: +75 exp can be claimed for a character of their choosing (this is in replacement of the cooldown)
If your team wins, in order to claim any prizes your character must have contributed at least ONE point to your team throughout the event. It goes by participation, not by usergroup.
To add a little more diversity to our holiday plans, we will also be introducing a series of holiday-related IC random events that will be posted once per week throughout the month of December, as well as a special, one-in-a-million "loot donkey" event!
1. For the weekly prompts, every will be a different event, and each week there will be 3 threads posted throughout the day to accommodate different timezones. During some weeks, special trade experience and prizes can be won from IC participation — please take the time to read the rules, found below, and understand what the different events are. If you have any questions, pleae reach out to an Admin!
- Week 1: Snowstorms ... In May???
- This event will feature open-ended thread prompts, focused around the lands being overcome with Winter 2.0, for characters to interact with.
- 3 separate threads, to be be posted throughout the day on December 5.
- These threads are completely free-form.
- Members can also make additional threads, on the side/building off of the prompts, if they would like.
- This event will feature a thread prompts that is focused upon a mysterious, giant tree that has appeared in neutral lands. This gives you the chance to swap unused gifts for a random new shop item.
- 3 separate threads, to be be posted throughout the day on December 12.
- In your post, includes a link to an unused gift that you still have and have your character “offer” something to the tree. A random roll will be conducted, and you will be sent a random shop item in response — your gift will be considered "used" and be struck out in the log.
- This event will feature a fan-favourite, extreme difficulty prey animal — mammoths! And it’s your job to try and take them down!
- 3 separate threads, to be posted throughout the day on December 19.
- Members can enter ONE character into each thread.
- This means that you can have a maximum of 3 characters participate if you enter one in every thread). This is to ensure that everyone can participate and to avoid the farming of any trade experience.
- All you need to do is post your character to the thread responding to the prompt.
- On December 26, the hunt will be rolled and the hunt results will be posted. The more lions that participate, the better the odds are of taking them down!
- A successful hunt of this caliber will award 20 bonus exp to ANY trade. This is in addition to any other trade exp that is earned during the thread.
- You will need to exit the thread before claiming your bonus exp.
- This event will feature an IC scavenger hunt, where characters need to track down the yule logs and find out whether or not they contain any gifts!
- 3 separate threads, to be posted throughout the day on December 26.
- Members can enter ONE character into each thread.
- This means that you can have a maximum of 3 characters participate if you enter one in every thread). This is to ensure that everyone can participate and to avoid the farming of any trade experience.
- All you need to do is post your character to the thread responding to the prompt, and insert the following code into the bottom of your post:
- That is your roll used to determine whether your character has found a prize or not.
- Rolling a 1 = 10 exp
- Rolling a 2 = 25 petals (to that IC account)
- Rolling a 3 = Try again
- You can keep posting and rolling until you have received the maximum of 5 presents per thread. (i.e. 50 exp, 125 petals, or any combination thereof).
- These threads will be closed for rolling as of January 9th - but you can post again to exit at any time.
- Exits are NOT required to claim your scavenger hunt gifts. You will need an exit, however, in order to claim any regular exp or petals.
Week 2: The Giving Tree
Week 3: Return of the Mammoth
Week 4: This Yule Log Has Something Funny In It…
[roll=1d3]
2. "Catch the Christmas Mule" will be a community-wide IC event where your collective goal is to take down a very fast (and very annoying) donkey by the name of Lou. Don't ask where he came from or why he's impossible to catch — just focus on getting your paws on him.
This will all occur in 1 single thread, active from December 5 and January 10, and will follow these guidelines:
- You can post one character per competition team to this thread. This is to keep the points balanced.
- This does not count as a dice-rolled hunt. All characters can participate.
- Lou has 250 health.
- To participate, all you need to do is post to the thread and include [*roll=1d2] in your post. Rolling a 1 counts as a hit, and rolling a 2 counts as a failure.
- You can post multiple times with the same character, but you need to wait at least 2 days between each post and roll. This is to prevent spamming - you need to all work together!
On January 11, the results will be tallied and posted. If you all succeed in getting Lou’s health to 0, all participants can claim +100 exp (to be used on a character of your choice).
And finally, we hope to get everyone’s creative juices flowing with an OOC event that we hope you will enjoy. Let your imagination soar with this Christmas Tree Decorating Contest and make it as extravagant, classic, or chic as you’d like.
We have a few F2U templates you can use:
There are no prizes for this, it’s purely just for fun! Feel free to post them here, in response to this thread, when you have them done!
We once again have started up the money bot on discord to let you earn some petals while talking with other members! See the discord announcement for more information!
